Bioware - Mass Effect 3

I finished my first playthrough of Mass Effect 3 one week ago, at 2:30PM PST on March 11, 2012.

This review is not entirely spoiler free beyond the cut, with details about the endgame towards the end of this post.

Mass Effect 3. I played through the first two games for the first time starting in December, and was eagerly looking forward to the conclusion of Commander Shepard’s fight against the Reapers. For those of you who haven’t played any of this series, here’s some general details. The Mass Effect universe blends a richly detailed science fiction role playing game with an engaging squad-based third-person shooter combat system. The story and role-playing system includes elements of morality, and include choices that have interstellar consequences. It is very much an epic game.

It’s been a long while since I’ve played a game that made me so angry, confused, sad, annoyed, frustrated, and just down-right negative, not because the gameplay was poor, but because the story dredged up the emotions and feeling. Don’t get me wrong, while the ending brought about this strong reaction, I am very much a fan of this game and this franchise, and would recommend it to anyone who was interested in a fun game and powerful story. Read on for my further thoughts.
